Our Story

Amy

What does a Buffalo, New York native do when she finds herself transplanted in sunny Southern California? If you’re Amy, you decide to open your own physical therapy and Pilates studio. Feeling a bit cut off from the community vibe she loved at home, Amy saw the studio as a way to connect with her new home in Laguna Niguel – and the people with whom she shared it. Amy took the next vacancy sign she saw outside a Laguna Niguel store as fate – Pure Pilates opened in 2005.

Heather

A SoCal native, Heather had the free-spirited California vibe down pat. She traveled the world in her twenties, finding work as a pastry chef. When a work injury kept Heather from icing the perfect petit four, she turned to Pilates for rehabilitation. The practice not only helped her heal, it changed her life. Having recently become a new mom, Heather was ready for a career change, and Pilates was her calling. Becoming an instructor gave her community roots in an area she wanted to raise her family. Not to mention she got the daily rush of sharing her passion with others.

Two is Better than One

After opening Pure Pilates in Laguna Niguel, Amy worked to make sure it offered her clients the best Pilates experience in the area. Her efforts worked, and she opened a new location in Ladera Ranch. Amy hired Heather as an instructor for both locations, and that was fate: their complementary personalities sparked a great friendship and an effective partnership. With Amy’s background in physical therapy and Heather’s real-life Pilates rehabilitation story, they had the combined experience to offer their clients the ultimate Pilates experience. Together, they opened their 3rd studio location in Rancho Santa Margarita in 2013.
