|Amy FischerAmy is the founder of Pure Pilates and Total Body Rehabilitation, Inc. She is a California licensed physical therapist and a degree in Biology. For the past 10 years she has been treating orthopedic and sports related injuries. She is also a certified Pilates and GYROTONIC instructor. Amy is a Post Rehabilitation Specialist for Breast Cancer Survivors through the Pink Ribbon Program. Amy specializes in manual therapy and orthopedic injuries, along with Pilates based rehabilitation. Amy has obtained her pilates certification through D.K. Body Balance. With years of experience in treating patients successfully, Amy provides the safest, most effective and advanced treatments available for physical therapy. She addresses each patient’s individual physical needs, gives them the care that they deserve and helps them achieve their goals.|
|Heather TestermanHeather began practicing Pilates 8 years ago after the birth of her first child. Within a year she knew this was something she would pursue as a career. She is trained in the Body Arts and Science method of Pilates. She has been teaching for over 5 years and last year completed her certification in pre and post-natal Pilates and pelvic floor rehabilitation with Jennifer Gianni of Fusion Pilates and the Long Beach Dance and Conditioning Center. Pilates is a passion for Heather that she hopes to ignite in those around her. In her former life, she was a chef and lived in Paris for a time working in a Boulangerie. In her spare time she now teaches culinary arts for the Regional Occupational Program and spends time with her husband and two children.|
|Claudia SherkClaudia has spent her entire life dedicated to sports/fitness. She began practicing Pilates in 1990, from that point on she was hooked. After having her two children she took her love for Pilates one step further and attended Body Arts and Science International (BASI). She has been teaching both mat and reformer Pilates since 2005.|
|Connie ClydeConnie has been practicing Pilates for nearly five years. Although she has engaged in various forms of fitness for years, but it wasn’t until she experienced Pilates that she found her true passion. Besides that, she found that Pilates was the definitive answer to her lower back and neck problems; she is now virtually pain free! In pursuit of her Pilates passion, she was certified through BASI in October 2007, and has completed courses for a STOTT certification. When she isn’t working on fine-tuning her Pilates, Connie is a freelance writer, editor, and translator for educational publishers and other clients. Connie resided in Venezuela for years and has traveled extensively. She teaches in the Laguna Niguel studio on Thursday mornings.|
|Judi Van DahlenJudi received her BA degree at Cal State Fullerton in Theater/Dance in 1985 and has been teaching Pilates for the last 16 years. She has performed, choreographed and taught dance with Dance Repertory in Fullerton, Jazz Spectrum in Costa Mesa, Jimmy Defore Dance Studio and Saddleback College. She was a Massage therapist for 12 years, working privately and with chiropractors. She has been practicing Yoga for 8 years and has taught Children’s Yoga in the after school program for CUSD. A low back injury led Judi to Pilates. It helped her so much that she decided to become an instructor herself. She was certified as a Pilates instructor 16 years ago through The Institute for the Pilates Method in Santa Fe, which is now the Physical Mind Institute. Judi taught and studied with Rael Isacowitz at “On Center Conditioning” (which is now BASI) for 6 years. She then taught at the Monarch Beach Tennis Club for 2 years and has taught privately for the past 10 years.|
||Alyson GiomettiAlyson had been practicing Pilates for a few years when she decided she wanted to share her passion with those around her. She apprenticed under Amy Fischer and Heather Testerman to expand her repertoire. Her passion toward Pilates comes through in her teaching as she loves to help others go beyond their comfort zone and further develop their abilities. When she isn’t teaching Pilates, Alyson can be found flying the “friendly skys” as a flight attendant. Alyson graduated from the University of Hawaii on a diving scholarship.|
|Amy CatherineAs a mom of two kids, Amy understands the need for a total body workout in just an hour. After practicing as an avid student, Amy is currently working toward her certification and apprenticing under Pure Pilates founder Amy Fischer. She helps students discover the balance of challenging themselves, while respecting where their bodies are at each day. Her holistic approach builds long lean muscles, flexibility and core strength. Amy says, “I’ll always be a student, challenging myself to learn and grow.”|
|Ania ThormahlenIf someone were to have told Ania that she would achieve her best physique AFTER having two children, she would have spit out her latte and called them crazy. Ania started practicing Pilates when her firstborn was 8 months old and has not looked back since. As a mother of two young children, Ania’s personal parenting mission is to demonstrate the importance of taking care of one’s own body, health, and well-being. Once it occurred to Ania that she never wanted to stop doing Pilates, she decided to pursue her certification. Ania is currently attending the renowned Body Arts and Science International (BASI) with Rael Isacowitz and is expected to complete her certification in October 2013. Ania received her B.A. in Psychology from UCSB and holds an M.A. in Social Psychology from UCLA.|
|Donna Moon A fitness enthusiast for over 25 years, Donna started taking strength training, aerobics and Yoga classes while attending college at San Diego State University. After becoming a full-time mom in 2001, she went to the gym almost daily. The body changes were so significant, in 2004 she decided to get certified as a Group X Instructor and Personal Trainer through AFAA, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and NASM National Academy of Sports Medicine. Along the way she discovered Pilates through an Instructor training program and decided Pilates was the format for her to teach.She is thrilled to be a part of Pure Pilates. Over the years I have gotten to know many people in Orange County through class instruction. I enjoy seeing the progress that Pilates and movement can do for everyone and I strive to make sessions fun, productive and inspiring
Trisha began practicing Pilates after the birth of her oldest child. She has studied both classical and modern approaches. She has a mat certification through Power Pilates and is working towards a certification at Body Arts and Science International
Dawn began her love affair with Pilates over six years ago and quickly realized it is not just about building lean muscle but building the connections that make everyday activities flow easier. She was amazed by what the body can do when that mindful movement connection is made. She believes the mind/ body/breath focus on Pilates is a truly healthy way to work the body as a whole and extremely uplifting for the spirit. Dawn completed the Mat Teacher Training course through BASI and became certified in 2010. She has been proudly teaching classes ever since. She spent many years in the hospitality business enjoy connecting with people. She is passionate about continuing this journey by pursuing her education and sharing what she has learned to help other achieve their goals.
Rebecca received her BA in Adult Fitness from Marshall University in 2000 and is an STOTT Pilates Certified Instructor Level 1 and 2 in all the equipment since 2008. Rebecca is also an Instructor Trainer for STOTT PILATES in the Mat and Reformer which allows her to teach students wanting to pursue a career in pilates. Rebecca was one of the first Instructor Trainer’s for the Merrithew Health and Fitness CORE Athletic Conditioning and Performance Training program, as well as, the Total Barre program. She is a certified ACE (American Council of Exercise) personal Trainer and ZENGA Instructor. Rebecca has been featured on the cover of Pilates Style Magazine (July/August 2013) as a Fitness and Pilates Expert. Rebecca is also the creator of the Pilates Suspension Method (PSM). Rebecca’s collegiate soccer and track and field background leads her to a more athletic approach to Pilates.
