FAQ

What is Pilates?

Think core strength, flexibility and mind-body awareness. If that sounds like your kind of thing, let us introduce you to Pilates, a form of exercise that focuses on a strong, balanced body. Pilates builds your strength organically – using exercises derived from the ways we naturally move. Regardless of your fitness level, Pilates is always challenging. That’s because it puts specific emphasis on the body’s core. If you want to build a health body from inside out, you’re in the right place.

Just a few benefits of Pilates:

  • Better mind body awareness

  • Better flexibility and healthier joints

  • Improved posture

  • Longer, leaner muscles

  • Core strengthening

  • Improved balance, stabilization, and coordination

  • Reduced risk of injury

  • Decreased stress

  • Correction of faulty movement patterns

  • Reduced pain and discomfort in back, hips and knees

  • Improve bone density

Why should I choose Pure Pilates?

Our approach to Pilates is thoughtful and connected. While each of our instructors offers a different style of teaching, all of our classes share a common theme – a commitment to excellence in Pilates and a methodology that will deepen your connection to your body and mind. We empower our clients to trust themselves – and explore what they can accomplish with their own bodies!

I’ve never done Pilates. Is that a problem?

No way. Everyone is a beginner once, and our sessions can be tailored to every fitness and ability level. If you’re new, we suggest starting out with a Level 1 class or a private session, which is completely customizable. If you can’t find an introductory class that works with your schedule just give us a call. We’ll help you get started.

What if I have an injury?

The beauty of Pilates is in its ability to encourage rehabilitation and healing. If you’re injured or have physical restrictions, let your instructor know. She’ll show you modifications for movements that are uncomfortable or beyond your ability. If you’re currently under a doctor’s care, give us a call. We’ll make sure you’re scheduled in a class that will offer you the best experience.

What if I’m pregnant?

Congratulations! Pregnancy is an amazing time, and there’s no reason to let it keep you from enjoying the benefits of Pilates. In fact, Pilates is an ideal exercise routine for pregnancy because it helps you reduce stress, sleep better and creates a mind-body awareness that will help you make the most of this magical time. Let your instructor know if you’re pregnant. She will offer modifications for moves that are uncomfortable.

Is there a minimum age?

Our classes include all ages, but we recommend starting at age 13. Pilates is a great exercise routine for young growing bodies – especially those involved in sports. It can help minimize strength training injuries and improve balance, flexibility and coordination.

Can I schedule a private session?

If classes aren’t your thing, or you just want the extra attention of a one-on-one session, we offer private Pilates and physical therapy sessions. While these sessions can be purchased online, you’ll need to schedule them by calling (949) 444-1253 or emailing two preferred dates and times to info@purepilateslaguna.com. Private sessions are great for beginners hoping to get acquainted with Pilates equipment and routines, or for those looking for a little extra attention on form and technique. If your doctor has recommended physical therapy, we’re happy to check with your insurance to determine coverage.

What should I wear?

Grab your stretchiest pants and leave your shoes at the door. While we don’t have a dress code, we recommend wearing something fitted and comfortable that allows your instructors to assist with proper form and lets you move around comfortably.

How do I prepare for my first class?

New to Pilates? Don’t be nervous. Our first-class checklist is simple:

  1. Go to our website in the upper left hand corner you will see a goldish/brown button, CLICK TO SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT ONLINE, This will bring you to another window where you will choose New to the site. Fill all the information requested, including a valid credit card. Once that is completed give us a call so we can help you select which package you would need. We would be glad to book your first class with us.

  2. You will be able to schedule future classes online (Make sure to click confirm on the second page.)

  3. Receive a confirmation email

  4. Arrive 5-10 minutes early to your first session so you can complete and necessary paperwork and get acquainted with our studio and equipment.

  5. If you need any assistance, feel free to email or call us at 949-444-1253 or e-mail us at info@purepilateslaguna.com

What equipment do you use?

Our studio is a playground for the spirit and body. We use Balanced Body clinical studio reformers, Pilates mats, Theraband fitness bands, foam rollers, magic circles, hand weights, jumpboards, fitness balls, ballet barres, Pure Pilates spring walls and (even) more.

When will I see results?

Joseph Pilates himself said it best: “You’ll feel better in 10 sessions, look better in 20 and have a whole new body in 30 sessions.” Pilates exercises strengthen and tone the body while focusing on alignment, form and breath, and from our experience, our clients see increased energy and invigoration after their first session. The practice is also ideal for injury prevention and gentle enough to use as a therapeutic approach to many chronic ailments.

How does the waitlist work?

If you want to schedule a class that’s full, you’ll see an option to join the waitlist. If a spot opens up, you’ll be added to the class and sent a confirmation email or text.

People on the waitlist are moved into class as spaces open up. Up to the set lower limit of clients in a class (5-9 depending on the studio and teacher), the system moves people in automatically or if there is room for more people, we move people in by hand as soon as we notice an opening. When you are moved into class the system sends an automated message to the email you provided and a push notice to your phone if you have them turned on for the app. If you opt out of receiving emails in our booking software, you will NOT receive these notices. Movement from waitlists is in chronological order based on how long you have been on the list.

We assume that if you are on the list you still want to attend, so if your plans change, please remove yourself from the waitlist. Also, there is a possibility that you will be moved into a morning class after the last time you check your e-mail the day before. Should you be unable to make it to class under those circumstances, or if you know you need more than 1 hour’s notice to attend, please remove yourself from the waitlist the last time you check your e-mail to see if you got in, this includes the last time you check before bed, please.

Cancellations for month-to-month memberships must be in writing 30 days before the next billing. Cancellations with renewals within 30 days may result in additional billings.

12 Month Membership may be put on hold for up to 2 times annually for 2 weeks to 3 months within the contract term, effectively extending the contract term.
